Independent TV production company Hartswood Films (Dracula, Sherlock) are the first to use the brand new Farnborough Studio developed by Stage Fifty. The two soundstages will house dramas The Devils’ Hour for Amazon Studios and Inside Man for BBC and Netflix.
A new 25% refundable tax credit builds on Iceland’s reputation for film scoring, talent and studio facilities. Reimbursements are offered for recording costs for music incurred in Iceland and complements the existing 25% credit for film production.
Principal production has begun on police corruption drama Line of Duty series six. The BBC One series has been filmed on location in Northern Ireland since the second series, moving from Birmingham to Belfast.
World Productions, the production company behind Line of Duty and The Bodyguard have been commissioned for two new television dramas set in Scotland and Wales respectively. Vigil, set and filmed in Scotland is supported by Screen Scotland, while the Welsh Government will support the production of true crime mini-series The Pembrokeshire Murders. World Productions' Creative Director and CEO Simon Heath will Executive Produce both dramas.
As competition heats up in the streaming landscape, BBC and ITV launch joint venture BritBox in the UK. The service is marketed as the biggest collection of British Box Sets available from a single streaming service featuring past, present and original British content. A large selection of drama, factual and films from the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 and Comedy Central UK are available on the platform.
Production in Birmingham began in October 2018 for the 4x60’ BBC One drama. Film Birmingham facilitated the filming and worked with the production company The Forge to find suitable locations that could double for London, and sourced local crew to join the production.
Bristol stars as the main location for Channel 4’s new drama, Kiri. Shot over a period of two weeks in August 2017, the four-part series features St Andrews Park, The Downs, the Cumberland Basin area, Napier Road, the Bear Pit and other locations.
Ill Behaviour, the new comedy from Fudge Park Productions (The Inbetweeners) shot on location at a number of sites throughout Bristol, including Electricity House, Ashton Court and the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Principal photography took place over a four month period from September to December last year.
