Location Scout Beth Tate to receive LMGI Trailblazer Award

Yesterday, esteemed location scout Beth Tate, was announced as this year’s recipient of the Trailblazer Award for the 10th annual LMGI Awards. Honoured for her well-respected career and contributions to projects such as Twilight and Beverly Hills 90210, Tate has also been a continued supporter of the Location Managers Guild International. This year’s ceremony will take place on 23 August.

A new Disney+ series about British punk band Sex Pistols features a wide range of London locations. Pistol is the story of a group of spotty, noisy kids who challenged the establishment with their countercultural way of life. The show is based on Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol, the memoir of guitarist Steve Jones. Location experts FilmFixer were on hand to help, bringing director Danny Boyle’s vision to life across the English capital.

Celebrated filmmaker David Yates set to receive Location Managers Guild International’s Honorary Eva Monley Award

English director David Yates will receive this year’s Eva Monley Award from the Location Managers Guild International. The filmmaker – who directed the last four Harry Potter films as well as the Fantastic Beasts franchise – is being celebrated for evidencing ‘above and beyond’ support of the work of location professionals. He will receive the prize at the 8th Annual LGMI Awards on Saturday 23 October, which is free to stream but requires registration.

After a freak accident during a blackout, struggling singer-songwriter Jack Malik (Himash Patel) finds himself in a world where the Beatles never existed. Taking the opportunity to bring the famous band’s music to audiences, the film sees Himesh propel his career from his home in Suffolk, UK to the hub of the entertainment industry that is LA. The Beatles' hometown of Liverpool, a city which inspired many of their hits also makes an appearance in the film.
