PGGB and BFC complete inaugural diversity scheme with reception at House of Commons

The Production Guild of Great Britain (PGGB), in partnership with the British Film Commission (BFC), celebrated the completion of its inaugural Diversity and Inclusion Mentor Scheme. The scheme launched in August 2021 with the core aim of helping underrepresented talent working in UK film and High-End TV production reach the next level of their career in their chosen field. An evening reception at the House of Commons marked the occasion.

Bristol and South West England kickstart Production Guild of Great Britain’s new national and regional committees scheme

The Production Guild of Great Britain has launched its new National and Regional Committees initiative.  Bristol and South West England represent the first completed committee – and Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the North West of England and Yorkshire are scheduled to follow in the coming months.

The Diversity and Inclusion Mentor Scheme is designed to help underrepresented talent at entry, early and experienced levels reach the next level of their career in their chosen field. It is part of PGGB’s Mission Inclusion programme (#MI21) delivered in partnership with the British Film Commission, designed by PGGB’s Diversity and Inclusion Action Group to empower production personnel to expand their networks and ensure they are hiring diverse production teams.

Covid-affected True Crime series The Serpent filmed between Thailand and Hertfordshire

Two weeks from the end of the Thai shoot for The Serpent on location filming was halted by Covid-19. The new circumstances meant that plans to wrap the shoot in eastern Europe had to be changed.

Winners announced for the fifth annual LMGI Awards

The fifth annual LMGI Awards took place at the Alex Theatre in Glendale over the weekend, with Dunkirk and Baby Driver honoured as part of this year’s winners. Baby Driver proved to be the most popular production of the night, scoring Outstanding Locations in a Contemporary Film and Outstanding Film Commission – the latter for the Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Film and Entertainment.

The Netherlands Film Fund invests EUR4.4 million in 17 productions in 2018

The Netherlands Film Fund has announced that a total of EUR4.4 million has been invested in 17 new productions throughout the first round of 2018. These productions will incur an estimated local spend of EUR18.8 million.

Oscars 2018: Ontario-shot, The Shape of Water, takes home Best Picture

After scoring 13 nominations, Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water took home four Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Production Design. Shot in Ontario over a two and a half month period, the production made extensive use of the province’s period architecture to recreate 1960s Baltimore.
