The National Trust is Europe’s largest conservation charity and cares for historic properties and countryside across the UK. Its properties have appeared in adaptations of each of Jane Austen’s six main novels, provided the real-life location of Winston Churchill’s home in The Darkest Hour, and key locations in long-running series such as Poldark and Downton Abbey.

Manderley, a fictional country house is integral to Daphne de Maurier’s 1938 psychological thriller Rebecca, which opens with the iconic lines “Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again”. The house itself is such a central character that production designer Sarah Greenwood (Sherlock Holmes, Beauty and the Beast) knew it needed to seem new and unique. Eight UK country houses and estates were amalgamated for the Netflix adaptation.

International production hubs are included on the list of quarantine exempt countries. From July 10, visitors and UK residents arriving in England from these countries will not have to self-isolate. Although the US is not included on the list, essential cast and crew have been exempted from quarantine in order to allow incoming productions based in the UK to get cameras rolling again.
