Today at FOCUS London, the British Film Commission and VisitBritain have signed a memorandum of Understanding outlining intentions of boosting screen tourism throughout the UK. Working hand in hand with each other the tourism and screen sector find benefit in the influx of international visitors through production and recreational travel.

Shawn Levy’s All the Light We Cannot See is et to premiere of Netflix on 2 November. The series, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Anthony Doerr, follows the tumultuous journey of Marie-Laure and her father who flee German-occupied Paris. The new release will star first time actress Aria Mia Loberti and Mark Ruffalo as the father daughter duo, amongst many others.

With their recently announced nominations, the 10th annual LMGI Awards will once again celebrate the location professionals making a significant impact in film, television, commercials and film commissions around the world. In addition, the evening will also see some longstanding contributors to the industry walking away with honorary awards such as the Lifetime Achievement award and the Trailblazer award. Marking the 20th anniversary of the Location Managers Guild International, this year’s ceremony will be held at The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica on 26 August 2023.

Stephen Knight, creators of Peaky Blinders, has launched a new multi million pound film and tv studio in Digbeth, Birmingham. Bringing more production activity to Birmingham, the Digbeth Loc studio space will also be used for the upcoming Peaky Blinders film as well as BBC inspired musical drama This Town. With construction expected to be completed by 15 July, the first production at the site is planned to begin filming in October.

Liverpool is set to star in three new productions on the big and small screens. The arrival of the final series of BBC’s Peaky Blinders, Warner Bros’ blockbuster The Batman, and ITV’s new adaptation of The Ipcress File means that the city will stage some of film and television’s biggest heroes and anti-heroes. Favoured by filmmakers for doubling as major cities around the world, the forthcoming productions exemplify why Liverpool is the most filmed UK city outside of London.
