Principal production has begun on Normal People, a screen adaptation of the award-winning novel by Irish writer Sally Rooney for the BBC and Hulu. The series consists of twelve, half hour long episodes and production is taking place between Sligo, on the west coast of Ireland, Dublin and Italy.
At the generosity of QHotels and with assistance from the Kent Film Office, TLG was invited along with three location managers (Mick Ratman, Martin Walker and Peter Camilleri) to tour the county of Kent, often titled the ‘Garden of England’.
Henrietta Street, located in the Irish capital of Dublin has been issued with a six month ban on filming after residents complained that an excessive amount of filming took place in November 2015. The street has become a popular filming location in recent years, having featured on high end television shows Penny Dreadful and Ripper Street.
Authorities in Limerick in western Ireland have bought a former factory building with the intention of turning it into a major film studio. Ireland is becoming a more popular filming location but high-profile TV dramas like Vikings and Ripper Street are based in Dublin.
Pinewood Studios has launched Pinewood Productions Ireland Limited as a new full service production company to assist clients filming on location in Ireland. The company’s services will include budgeting, location scouting, crew sourcing and equipment and facilities rental.
