Apple TV+’s  Masters of the Air, starring Austin Butler and Callum Turner, reunites  Band of Brothers collaborators Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks once again for the World War II set series. Written by John Orloff, the book adaptation tells the story of the men of the 100th Bomb Group. The drama series filmed across UK based locations including Hemel Hempstead and Bovingdon Airfield Studios orchestrated with the help of supervising location manager Emma Pill.

This Christmas, Alice Walker’s novel meets the screen once again, this time in musical form. Filmed in Georgia, United States, the new adaptation will star Taraji P. Henson, Fantasia Barrino-Taylor, Danielle Brooks, H.E.R. and Halle Bailey. Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey return to the story as producer alongside original composer Quincy Jones. The Blitz Bazawule iteration is set for a Christmas Day US release with the UK premiere scheduled for 26 January 2024.

The Location Managers Guild International (LMGI) Awards welcomed another successful year, announcing their winners of the night. Held on 26 August, location professionals gathered at The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica to celebrate the crème de la crème of the field as well as the LMGI’s 20th anniversary. Winners included feature flicks such as John Wick: Chapter 4  and acclaimed series like The White Lotus: Season 2.

Hollywood star Harrison Ford reprises his role as mystery solving debonair in the upcoming release of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. The final instalment of the franchise shot across England, Scotland, Italy and Morocco last year, with the trailer capturing the recognisable sites of the respective locations painted with true Indy flare. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is set to premiere at Cannes Film Festival 2023.

RENDR, the new creative industries festival set to take place next month in Belfast revealed its lineup of speakers on 25 January. Those in attendance include professionals whose credits span The Mandalorian, The Batman, Top Gun: Maverick, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and more. Taking place from 23-24 February, the event will be held at Portview Trade Centre in Belfast.

Dune and The Power of the Dog were among the top performing films at the 2022 EE British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards. An array of global filming destinations were showcased at the event as Denis Villeneuve’s Dune picked up five awards and Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog won Best Film and Best Director. Dune was filmed across four key locations: the Wadi Rum in Jordan, the Liwa desert outside Abu Dhabi, the northwest coast of Norway, and the soundstages of Origo Studio in Hungary’s Budapest. Set in 1920s Montana, American-Western drama The Power of the Dog was shot across New Zealand in the capital city Auckland, the Maniototo Plain of Central Otago, and the coastal regions of Dunedin and Oamaru.
