Inis Mór, wins EUFCN Location Award

Inis Mór, the largest of Ireland’s Aran Islands, has won the EUFCN Location Award for the seventh edition. This award honours the location for its use in Martin McDonagh’s The Banshees of Inisherin, starring Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. The award was accepted by Screen Ireland’s Michael Byrne on Sunday 18 February at the EUFCN Location Award Ceremony during the 2024 European Film Market in Berlin.

Today at FOCUS London, the British Film Commission and VisitBritain have signed a memorandum of Understanding outlining intentions of boosting screen tourism throughout the UK. Working hand in hand with each other the tourism and screen sector find benefit in the influx of international visitors through production and recreational travel.

After pulling our bags across the hot tarmac to the Windhoek Air Terminal, we meet Ma Fiina, a woman with a generous smile and IMMIGRATION emblazoned across her back on a neon yellow vest. She whisks us through security and passport checkpoints, removing her vest to reveal a uniform polo shirt that promises CUSTOMER SERVICE…I asked how many layers of super hero costuming was she wearing to get us to our final destination.  Ma is an address of respect, and Fiina Elago commands it and is, among other things, a valued member of the Namibia Film Commission Board, representing the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security.

The Malta Film Commission has announced the launch of the Mediterrane Film Festival, celebrating innovation and creativity in the screen industry. The festival is set to take place in Malta’s capital, Valleta, from 25-30 June, as well as other locations across the country. Malta’s upcoming event comes on the tails of five international shoots which filmed in the region in the past four months.

Screen Queensland support upcoming romantic comedy Love is in the Air

The Queensland Government through Screen Queensland is supporting the currently filming production of Love is in the Air, a romantic comedy starring Delta Goodrem. Produced by Bisbane-based company Jaggi Entertainment, the project is written by director Adrian Powers along with Caera Bradshaw and Katherine E. McPhee. 100% made in Queensland, Love is in the Air makes use of financial support of the region.
