Following the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, New York City’s film and television industry has stepped back into action. With a visit from the mayor on Wednesday to  East End Studios, currently in construction, the slew of late night talk shows returning to their usual spots, and other dramatised projects in production, New York city is positioning itself for business as usual.

Warner Bros. Pictures has confirmed that director Matt Reeves is scripting a sequel to The Batman. Reeves and Dylan Clark will return to produce the project, with actor Robert Pattinson once again set to star as the Caped Crusader. Confirmation of a forthcoming sequel took place at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, when the film's director was joined onstage by Warner Bros. Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich. This announcement follows news that the original film officially passed the USD750 million mark at the global box office.

Liverpool is set to star in three new productions on the big and small screens. The arrival of the final series of BBC’s Peaky Blinders, Warner Bros’ blockbuster The Batman, and ITV’s new adaptation of The Ipcress File means that the city will stage some of film and television’s biggest heroes and anti-heroes. Favoured by filmmakers for doubling as major cities around the world, the forthcoming productions exemplify why Liverpool is the most filmed UK city outside of London.

Manderley, a fictional country house is integral to Daphne de Maurier’s 1938 psychological thriller Rebecca, which opens with the iconic lines “Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again”. The house itself is such a central character that production designer Sarah Greenwood (Sherlock Holmes, Beauty and the Beast) knew it needed to seem new and unique. Eight UK country houses and estates were amalgamated for the Netflix adaptation.

International production hubs are included on the list of quarantine exempt countries. From July 10, visitors and UK residents arriving in England from these countries will not have to self-isolate. Although the US is not included on the list, essential cast and crew have been exempted from quarantine in order to allow incoming productions based in the UK to get cameras rolling again.
