Non-profit training and employment organisation Set Ready have announced their next free TV and film industry training programme. With trainees who have worked on esteemed projects such as Spectre, The Crown and Ted Lasso, Set Ready are giving opportunities to many who might experience barriers with entering the industry. The programme is in association with the JGA Group as part of the Pan-London Creativity squared project funded by the Greater London Authority and European Social Fund. The upcoming event will take place from 28 to 30 March at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley.

On 19 February at the Austrian Film Hub at the 2023 Berlin International Film Festival, the British Film Commission (BFC) and the national film commission for Austria, Film in Austria, signed a memorandum of understanding, further strengthening the relationship between the respective countries’ screen industries. This signing enhances the collaboration between the UK and Austria through the facilitation of film and high end TV production between the two countries.

The Austrian government announced a new filming incentive on 7 July 2022. Setting Austria at a new position of attractiveness, the new incentive will offer an up to 35 percent non-repayable grant, of which 5 percent will be applied to national sustainability efforts. The maximum amount of subsidy will be EUR 5 million for film projects and EUR 7.5 million for television series. This will be available to both local and international production teams from 1 January 2023.

Tomorrow night, the Production Guild of Great Britain (PGGB) will celebrate the winners of the 2022 PGGB Awards in association with Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden. The UK industry gathers to recognise remarkable achievements made by Production Guild members working in film or television drama. Hosted by comedian and TV presenter Patrick Kielty, six awards will be presented on Saturday 26 March at The Grove in Hertfordshire.

EXCLUSIVE: Film AlUla partners with Creative Media Skills Institute for film industry training camp

Film AlUla - the Royal Commission for AlUla’s film agency - has partnered with the UK’s Creative Media Skills Institute to deliver a 10-day film industry bootcamp in Saudi Arabia. Launching in March 2022, the scheme will prepare 25 local trainees from AlUla to follow careers in Production and Assistant Directing as well as the Art, Locations, Costume, Make-up and Hair departments. This training programme is led by award-winning film professionals and hosted in the stunning landscape of AlUla, home to the UNESCO World Heritage site Hegra.
