RENDR, the new creative industries festival set to take place next month in Belfast revealed its lineup of speakers on 25 January. Those in attendance include professionals whose credits span The Mandalorian, The Batman, Top Gun: Maverick, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and more. Taking place from 23-24 February, the event will be held at Portview Trade Centre in Belfast.

Facebook premiered its first ever high-end series for Facebook Watch at the Toronto Film Festival on Saturday. The social media networking site will distribute the series on its Facebook Watch platform over the next four weeks, starting on Tuesday the 18th September.
After scoring 13 nominations, Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water took home four Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Production Design. Shot in Ontario over a two and a half month period, the production made extensive use of the province’s period architecture to recreate 1960s Baltimore.
From high-end TV dramas such as The Night Manager, The Crown and Game of Thrones to big budget movies such as Star Wars: The Last Jedi or Justice League, there has been a well-documented boom in international production in recent years.
The fourth season of Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror was shot at a number of locations in Iceland, Spain, Nevada and the United Kingdom. With the show following an anthology format, the chosen locations play a large role in differentiating each of the new six episodes from one another.
There was a strong contingent representing the UK at this year’s FOCUS show, the meeting place for international production. Local and national screen agencies through to production services companies, location providers and production technology firms were among the UK exhibitors, many of them based in a dedicated UK Focus zone at the Business Design Centre in Islington.
The eighth entry in the Star Wars saga, The Last Jedi, made use of a wide variety of locations in countries including Ireland, Croatia, Iceland and Bolivia. While a select number of scenes were filmed in Ireland in September 2015, principal photography officially began in February 2016 and ran until July of the same year.
