With the year drawing to a close, there is little doubt in the industry that 2017 ushered in a new era for high-end television drama. In 2017 Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale was chosen as best drama at the Emmy’s. It was the first time a web series received this accolade.
Two new appointments have been made to the Production Guild of Great Britain as the board welcomes Alex Boden and Natalie Moore. The announcement has been made alongside a new pledge from the Production Guild to reach out to production hubs outside of London.
At the generosity of QHotels and with assistance from the Kent Film Office, TLG was invited along with three location managers (Mick Ratman, Martin Walker and Peter Camilleri) to tour the county of Kent, often titled the ‘Garden of England’.
The Netherlands Film Fund will be increasing its cash rebate incentive from 30% to 35% for feature films. High-end television shows will also receive a larger rate of 30%, over the current 25% offering. The increased incentive will be available from October 1st, 2017.
A newly commissioned eight-part drama from ITV, entitled The Widow, will be shot on location in Wales, Africa and the Netherlands. The series is being produced by Two Brothers Pictures (The Missing - pictured) and will be penned by Harry and Jack Williams.
A new commercial for LU biscuits features a number of Parisian landmarks including the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe. Serviced by Nicocorp, the spot was largely filmed at two locations: a bakery in the fourteenth district of Paris and a local apartment which was used to double for one in China.
The Incantation, starring Dean Cain (Supergirl) and Sam Valentine (Exspiravit) was shot entirely in the Loire Valley, just two hours South-West of Paris. The film is written and directed by Jude S. Walko (Rush: Inspired by Battlefield) whose previous credits also include work as a Producer and an Actor.
