CineRegio launches Manifesto for Sustainable Filming at Berlin International Film Festival

CineRegio, a network of regional film funds in Europe, launches today their Manifesto for Sustainable Film, as well as a commitment to social impact at this year’s Berlin International Film Festival. As of today, 24 members of CineRegio have signed the manifesto, including Film London and Screen Brussels Fund. In addition to social impact and mental health,the new manifesto will consider environmental impact, building on the network’s Green manifesto which has been signed by 45 members.

David Nicholl’s best-selling novel One Day returned to screens for its Netflix adaptation. Released on 8 February, the romantic drama stars This is Going to Hurt star Ambika Mod and The White Lotus actor Leo Woodhall. Multiple locations were used for filming the series including the UK, Greece, Paris and Italy.

Winner of The Duke of Edinburgh Film & TV Inclusion Award 2024 announced

Million Youth Media have been announced as the winners of The Duke of Edinburgh Film & TV Inclusion Award 2024.  The organisation offer training and development for upcoming filmmakers and under-represented talent. The honour was announced as part of the PGGB Talent Showcase  held at London’s Savoy Hotel on Thursday 8 February.

Bristol doubles for 1970’s Jamaica and London in Disney+ series Black Cake

Disney +’s newest drama series Black Cake travelled to Bristol for the filming of two key featured locations. Facilitated by the city’s film office, major locations in Bristol closed off for transformations. The series, adapted from Charmaine Wilkerson’s best selling novel of the same name, is available to streaming now.

Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg reunite for Apple TV+ project Masters of the Air

Apple TV+’s  Masters of the Air, starring Austin Butler and Callum Turner, reunites  Band of Brothers collaborators Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks once again for the World War II set series. Written by John Orloff, the book adaptation tells the story of the men of the 100th Bomb Group. The drama series filmed across UK based locations including Hemel Hempstead and Bovingdon Airfield Studios orchestrated with the help of supervising location manager Emma Pill.

AXA IM purchases BBC Elstree Centre

French global investment management firm AXA Investment Managers (IM) have acquired North West London’s BBC Elstree Centre. This purchase marks the first investment by AXA IM into the UK’s TV and film studio market. As part of the deal AXA IM will lease part of the studios to BBC for 25 years. Oxygen Studios, who advised on the acquisition, will also act as developing and operating partner in the new ownership.

Madam Films partners with Leukaemia UK for their first TV commercial

UK and Menorca based production company MADAM Films has partnered with Leukaemia UK  for their first TV commercial titled Thank You. Created by 11 Agency and directed by Ray Moody, the commercial highlights the effects of charitable giving and raises awareness for the cause. The one day shoot took place on West Whittering beach in the UK with trainees involved on the set sourced from the local area.

LNER introduces dancing mascot Eleanor in new campaign

Rail company LNER have started the year with the help of their new red headed mascot Eleanor for their Freedom All the Way campaign. As part of their partnership with M&C Saatchi London, the creative campaign sees the dancing puppet showing travellers all that can be done during a LNER journey, set to the tune of Fatboy Sim’s Weapon of Choice.
