Cannes' most prestigious prize goes to South Korea's Bong Joon-Ho

The jury, led by Argentina’s Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu, made history by awarding top prizes to South Korean director Bong Joon-Ho’s Parasite, the first time the top prize has gone to a South Korean feature. The Grand Prix went to French-Seneglese director Mati Diop for Atlantique (Atlantic), marking the first time the coveted prize have gone to a black female director in Cannes' seventy-two year history.

Andalucía Film Commission win three out of five Set of Culture awards at Cannes Film Festival

Andalucía’s La Alhambra in Granada (pictured below), Plaza de España in Sevilla and the Monument to the Cadiz’s Court were awarded with the prestigious award “Set of Culture” in Cannes. Locations submitted by the Roma Lazio Film Commission also took home two of the awards that celebrate cinema and TV locations linked to the cultural and historical spirit of the European Union.

straight 8 – the global super 8 film competition is now open for entries. Anyone anywhere is invited to make a short film on one cartridge of super 8 film and newcomers are encouraged to enter. For the fourteenth year running the best entries will be screened at straight 8 premieres at Cannes Film Festival.
