Filming in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan lies on the Caspian Sea and shares borders with Russia and Iran. Its climate is deeply varied and it in fact offers environments ranging from alpine tundra through to forests and sub-tropical meadows.

Summer temperatures can reach nearly 40 Degrees Celsius in the city of Baku. Generally the eastern parts of Azerbaijan are milder as the climate’s moderated by the Caspian Sea.

Baku is positioned on the Caspian Sea and offers a rich blend of architecture reflecting 2,000 years of history, from a medieval palace, mosques and towers, through to more European architectural styles such as Gothic, Baroque, Art Deco and Art Nouveau.

The country’s international profile is on the rise. It will host the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012 and is bidding to host the Olympics in 2020. Local filming support is on offer from the Ministry of Culture, while equipment such as Red Epic cameras, Panther dollies and GFM cranes are available from a few servicing companies in Baku.
