Filming in Georgia

Georgia has become one of the main production hubs in the US, partly through its base 20% filming incentive that expands to 30% with the inclusion of the state’s peach logo in a production’s credits, and its outstanding studio infrastructure.

Trilith Studios, formerly Pinewood Atlanta, is a long-term favourite for Marvel, as the host of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. and Spider-Man: Homecoming and upcoming features Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever. Georgia’s other studio facilities include EUE/Screen Gems Studios Atlanta, Atlanta Film Studios and Blackhall Studios.

In addition to feature films, Georgia is a popular destination for TV series such as AMC’s long-running zombie apocalypse drama The Walking Dead. The state’s ability to double for a wide range of locations has meant that productions Netflix's sleeper-hit, Stranger Things could comfortably double areas in Georgia for Indiana, and Netflix’ Ozark shoot Georgia for Missouri.

Outside of Atlanta, Savannah is a burgeoning production hub which hosts large scale shoots such as Ang Lee’s Gemini Man, Ford v. Ferrari and Disney+ Lady and the Tramp, as well as dramas including The Glorias: A Life on The Road and The Peanut Butter Falcon. Its historical district that dates back to 1733, as well as rural and coastal settings means that the city is often chosen to double for the 19th century US or European destinations. In addition to the state incentive, the Savannah Regional Film Commission offers cash rebates for feature films and TV series, and a qualified applicants can receive a relocation expense reimbursement of up to USD2000 per household for moving expenses, which is helping to grow an experienced local crew base.

The state’s competitive film incentive programme continues to encourage filmmakers to choose Georgia as the place to film, hiring local workers and prompting economic growth.”
