Filming in Glasgow

Situated west of the capital Edinburgh, Glasgow is Scotland’s biggest city and has the third largest urban population in the UK. Its international profile has been boosted through hosting shoots for projects like Cloud Atlas, Legacy, Valhalla Rising and Brad Pitt’s World War Z.

The city is already a significant production centre and has made nearly GBP40 million over the past three years from location filming projects. Through the course of 2010 there were, on average, two projects shooting in the city on every working day of the year.

There’s a mix of architecture representing hundreds of years of history, old and new. These include Victorian red and honey sandstone, glass and steel contemporary designs and neo-gothic towers. The City Chambers are a specific popular filming spot.

Glasgow City Airport is eight miles from the city centre and offers connections to over 100 destinations.
