Guatemala has an extraordinary ancient history on which the modern country is built. The Maya Civilisation remains can still be seen in the form of a number of extremely well-preserved temples, set in the jungle.

Filming in Guatemala
Guatemala now has a film commission to help develop the country's industry which is growing slowly but steadily.
Most productions at the moment are commercials or photo shoots but there is a fledgling film movement and several medium-scale features have already been shot in Guatemala.
Because Guatemala is volcanic with many microclimates, it offers a wide range of locations in a very small area.
Rainforests, lakes, rivers, waterfalls, jungles, deserts, volcanoes, mountains and pine forests can all be found there. It also has beaches on both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans within a five-hour drive of each other.
The architecture is equally diverse. Within short distances there are Mayan Ruins and pyramids, Spanish Colonial towns, Mayan villages, Carribean Ports and neoclassical and ultramodern architecture in Guatemala City.
Climate
Guatemala is known as the land of eternal spring. The climate ranges from between 20C to 25C all year round in higher elevations and 27C to 32C in lower ones. The dry season is from October to April and the rainy season is from May to September.
