Filming in Isle of Man

The Isle of Man provides filmmakers with a unique sense of variety that is difficult to find elsewhere. With an area of 572 km², the island's main locations are within short distance of one another and can be accessed with ease.

In addition to its urban settings in the likes of Douglas, the island is home to an extensive degree of wildlife and forestation. Taking inspiration from British architecture, the Isle of Man can easily double for locations throughout the UK.

Regular flights and ferries to the island make for an easy journey. The nearest UK-based ports can be found in Heysham and Liverpool.

Producers hoping to shoot in the Isle of Man can make use of the Isle of Man Media Fund, which can provide monetary assistance to stimulate local filming activity. In order to access the fund, productions must have existing funds in place and principal photography must take place largely on the island with the involvement of a local company.

The island recently played host to the upcoming series Laurence in Suburbia, Sean Foley's Mindhorn and Bharat Nalluri's Spooks: The Greater Good.
