Filming in Michigan

Michigan has ended its filming incentive programme. The news came only a few months after superhero movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice wrapped principal photography in Detroit. However, the incentive itself had been in turmoil since the start of 2015.

Without this, the major Hollywood studios are unlikely to now consider Michigan as a viable location.

The only major film to take the plunge and shoot there recently has been Michael Bay's Transformers: The Last Knight. The production received an exlusive investment of USD21 million as a result.

Detroit is a great example of a quintessential American city and I know it will make the perfect backdrop for our movie. Detroit and the entire state of Michigan have been fantastic collaborators and we are looking forward to working together on this film.

Climate

Michigan is temperate with the warmest temperatures year-round to be found in the south. Temperatures in Detroit in the south range from - 5C in January to 22C in July, while further north in Sault Ste Marie temperatures range from -11C in January to 18C in July.
The Great Lakes have more of a moderating impact on the northern parts of the state, although this region is also more susceptible to heavy snowfall.

The state gets about 32 inches of rainfall a year and clear sunshine on 49% of days each year. Detroit’s relative humidity is about 60% at midday.
