Filming in Valencia

Nestled on Spain’s Mediterranean coastline, sun-soaked Valencia offers a blend of the old and the new that grabs the attention. The city has Roman and Arabic heritage collectively known as the old quarter, beyond which modernist architecture is characterised by wide pavements and thoroughfares.

Valencia could be destined to become more of a production hub through the influence of the Ciudad de la Luz Studios, positioned further south down the coastline outside Alicante. The facility is beginning to attract larger productions and presents a convenient base for productions planning a Valencia shoot.

Spain currently lacks filming incentives but Valencia is one city that is film-friendly. With crews tending to gravitate towards Madrid and Barcelona Valencia offers cityscapes that are not yet over-exposed, while there are fewer people on the streets to contend with. It can also be an effective double for places like northern Europe and even New York.
