Filming in West Virginia

International feature film, Z for Zachariah shot on location in West Virginia. It tells the story of a young woman and two men who become embroiled in a fierce love triangle, against the backdrop of a post-apocalytpic wastleland.

For Rich Graff's docudrama, The Making of the Mob: New York, Martinsburg was use to double for an early 20th century New York.

The West Virginia incentive provides a base transferable tax credit of 27% on all labour, talent, rentals and purchases in the state, plus a 4% bonus for hiring 10 or more locals.

The incentive applies to both resi- dent and non-resident wages for talent, management and labour, provided that wages are subject to West Virginia income tax. There are no caps on talent, but there is a USD5 million annual cap on credits.

The state also incentivises local crew hires and the film office now runs production co-ordinator training courses in Fairmont.

The Film Office is able to recruit these types of high-profile productions because of a film tax credit programme enacted by the legislature in 2007.
