Quentin Tarantino’s new feature, spaghetti Western Django Unchained, has been filming on location at a movie ranch in California. The Melody Ranch in Santa Clarita is a historic permanent set purpose-built for TV and film productions, and most recently hosted HBO Western series Deadwood.

Things began to slow in New York after 1986’s notorious Black Monday so Masato expanded his photography business to cover Japan as well.

German production company Weareflink and Chinese production house CONTRA have filmed in Beijing to mark Chinese New Year for vehicle manufacturer VW. The spot shows a dragon with VW wheels creeping through a busy Beijing street to mark the event.
In probably the most eye-catching language school commercial in the history of the genre, In & Out has filmed on location in California with Megan Fox and Mike Tyson. The spot shows two twenty-something Brazilian men washed up on a desert island populated by multiple clones of Megan Fox.
Production company Hafzoo has followed French cycling star Christophe LeMèvel on a punishing alpine training session in a new spot for GPS specialist Garmin. The Climb shows LeMèvel cycling a remote Austrian highway as his Garmin device measures his performance.

Elsewhere there was bad news for Pinewood Studios in the UK as its expansion plans failed to win approval, while Raleigh Studios is expanding to Utah.
Florida’s filming industry is looking for more money for its film fund. Back in 2010 the state launched filming incentives worth up to 30%, with the money coming from a film fund worth more than USD240 million over five years. It’s been a popular programme and much of the cash is now allocated.
A monster has been unleashed on the Buenos Aires waterfront in a new ad for the French Dairy Council. The spot shows a woman enjoying a cheese snack, only to be interrupted by a monster that leaps from the water and hones in on the cheesy odour. It doesn’t end well for the woman.
The Colombian Film Commission was launched in 2008 and introduces producers and directors working in film, television and advertising to Colombia. Its purpose is to make other countries, and especially audiovisual producers and directors, aware of all the things Colombia has to offer.
