A new competition could help long-term plans to raise Montana’s profile as a production centre in the US. The Montana Film Office is offering production equipment and services worth USD20,000 to a filmmaker who can give the best reason why their project should be filmed in Montana.

Law & Order is coming to Cape Town. The massively popular US crime drama has produced numerous spinoffs in America and also has a UK version, but now South Africa is planning to use the brand recognition to its advantage. It’ll be set and shot in Cape Town with a local cast and crew.
It’s a summer of superheroes in several US cities as the major studios’ 2012 release slates shape up. The Dark Knight Rises has been filming fight sequences and scenes involving the so-called Batwing in Pittsburgh, while Marvel has been wreaking havoc in Cleveland, Ohio, for The Avengers.
Jason Statham’s latest action thriller, Killer Elite, is set in places like the UK, Oman, Dubai and Paris, but filmed mostly in the Australian state of Victoria. More extensive shooting was considered in places like the UK, but keeping prices down and getting the most from Victoria won the day.
Deodorant brand Axe has put a modern slant on a biblical classic and built an ark in Buenos Aires. The spot shows a local preparing for a storm by building an ark with a gym, a dance floor and some sleek living quarters. A spray of deoderant attracts a troupe of supermodels to help fill the space.
Marcus Nispel’s remake of Schwarzenegger fantasy classic Conan the Barbarian has filmed across Bulgaria. Namibia and Croatia were both considered as filming locations for a few scenes, but practicality meant that Bulgaria ended up hosting the full shoot.
