A new webseries by Marie-Claire Mascotte and Rebecca Davey entitled Running With Violet, has begun filming in St. Petersburg, Florida. The production will shoot at the Loews Don CeSar Hotel before moving to other locations within the Tampa area. Comprising of six episodes, the series will debut in February 2017 exclusively on YouTube.
Filming is about to begin on Otto Bathurst’s Robin Hood: Origins, with the production’s first port or call being the Croatian city of Dubrovnik. Crew were on location earlier this week to construct a small town down by the beach in an attempt to recreate Nottingham.

Savannah-based entrepreneur Rodney Dickey has unveiled plans to establish a new film studio in the Georgian city. Entitled River Oaks Film Studios, the company will take over the warehouse at 198 Gulfstream Road, renovating the premises to accommodate large scale productions.
A remake of the classic 1973 drama Papillon starring Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman, has wrapped filming on location in Malta. The new adaptation will star Charlie Hunnam (Pacific Rim) alongside Rami Malek (Mr Robot), taking over the roles of McQueen and Hoffman respectively.
Rob W. King’s science-fiction feature, The Humanity Bureau has begun filming in the small lakeside town of Osoyoos, British Columbia. The film stars Nicolas Cage and Sarah Lind, depicting a dystopian United States destroyed by global warming, leading the Government to banish citizens who are deemed unessential to the rebuilding process.

The British Film Institute has laid out its funding strategy for the next five years, under the name BFI2022. The plan will invest close to GBP500 million from 2017 to 2022 in new and emerging sectors of the UK creative industry, such as non-feature length films and providing faster methods of funding for low-budget films.
