Glenn Close film shooting on location in Dublin

Glenn Close is the producer, co-writer and star of Albert Nobbs, which is filming on location in Dublin for the next few weeks. The story’s set in Victorian Dublin in 1898.

Several other countries were considered as shoot locations before the production headed to Ireland. Close said: “At one point we were thinking of filming in Hungary, eastern Germany and Montreal in Canada. We've been all over the place but I'm really happy that we're here because this is where it should be.”

Ireland offers a tax incentive called Section 481 that provides formats including feature films with up to 28% of qualifying expenditure. Albert Nobbs is based on a short story by Irish author George Moore and has a budget of EUR6 million.
