Screen Queensland support upcoming romantic comedy Love is in the Air

The Queensland Government through Screen Queensland is supporting the currently filming production of Love is in the Air, a romantic comedy starring Delta Goodrem. Produced by Bisbane-based company Jaggi Entertainment, the project is written by director Adrian Powers along with Caera Bradshaw and Katherine E. McPhee. 100% made in Queensland, Love is in the Air makes use of financial support of the region.

“We are proud to provide end-to-end support for this latest production by Jaggi Entertainment — a Logie and AACTA-nominated company, whose Queensland creations have been hits for industry leaders such as Disney and Hallmark, and topped global Netflix charts,” commented Screen Queensland CEO Courtney Gibson. “From the first day on set to the last day in the editing suite, Love is in the Air will generate approximately $2.25 million for the state economy and 70 jobs for Queensland cast and crew,” she said.

Filmed in the Whitsundays, Love is in the Air continue to bring activity to the northern region of Queensland which has seen a number of projects come its way, including Stan Original series Black Snow and Universal Pictures’ Ticket to Paradise. Supporting these projects are a the Screen Finance programme, Regional Incentive and Post, Digital and Visual Effects (PDV) Incentive.

“Created to ensure the benefits of screen production reach communities right across the state,” as stated by Gibson, the incentives have been a strong force in not only focussing on the direct film related activity, but also with peripheral responsibilities such as accommodation, catering, transport, tourism and more.

Starring as Dana Randall, a seaplane pilot flying in the tropics who finds herself falling for the man sent to sink her business played by Joshua Sasse. Goodrem had nothing but glowing remarks about her welcome to Whitsunday and the warm embrace from the local community. She will be joined by Roy Billing from Underbelly and Jack Irish and comedian Steph Tisdell of Total Control and Class of ’07.

“I’m enjoying being back on set, portraying a go-getter like Dana and I’m looking forward to sharing the film with audiences,” commented Goodrem.

The development of the state’s northern regions has been backed by the significant investment from the Queensland Government, stated by Far North Queensland Screen Champion and Member for Mulgrave Curtis Pitt MP. After seeing a AUD4 million rollout from the North Queensland Regional Programme contribute to the upskilling of creative talent from Townesville to the Torres Strait, Pitt stated that further development is underway and the region “are about to start construction on the $12.6 million Screen Queensland Studios, Cairns.”

Following in the footsteps of past Jaggi Entertainment productions including This Little Love of Mine and teen series Dive Club, Love is in the Air will be produced by Steve Jaggi, Kelly Son Hing and Kylie Pascoe with executive producers Lee Matthews, Janine Pearce, Michael Gray and Jip Panosot.
