South Carolina improves location filming incentives package
South Carolina has improved its location filming incentives and made them permanent, rather than having to renew each year. An existing rebate on local wages has been increased to 25%, with an additional 5% available for South Carolina locals hired.
Richard Futch is President of Carolina Film Alliance: “What it says to the film industry around the world is that South Carolina values the millions of dollars that film companies will now spend here with local small business, such as hardware stores, restaurants, lumber yards, and dry cleaners – attracting millions in capital investment to grow the economy, creating jobs, and showcasing South Carolina’s geographic beauty to the world on the big screen.”
South Carolina lacks the filmmaking profile of its North Carolina neighbour, but has had long-term success with TV drama Army Wives, filmed in Charleston.
