Motion picture production spending in British Columbia in 2008 was CAD1.2 billion, an increase of more than CAD250 million over 2007, Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts Bill Bennett announced yesterday.
The Film Distributors' Association have said that admissions rose 1.1% to 164.2 million in 2008 with box office takings up 3.7% to GBP854.4 million. This has been largely attributed to the success of such films as Mamma Mia and The Dark Knight and other big budget franchises like Indiana Jones and James Bond.
